Fire Alarm: Lightning Damage

With storms comes lightning and with lightning comes a chance that fire alarm systems will be struck by it.

When lightning strikes your fire alarm system it can cause damage to a number of things:

·         Main Panels

·         Sub-panels

·         Modules

·         Relay contacts

·         Power supplies

·         Batteries

·         AC surge protectors

·         SLC surge protectors

·         Pull stations

·         Heat/smoke detectors

·         Wiring

·         Underground wiring

Literally anything wired up to the fire alarm system is subject to damage when lightning strikes. Systems can be taken out completely, or systems that are still online may be in alarm when there is no need for an alarm. Should your fire alarm system be struck by lightning we are always on call to repair any damaged systems. Keeping your people and property protected from fire is our utmost priority. Don’t let storms get in the way of protecting what’s important.
